In winter 2026, ACT launched a new scholarship program in partnership with the Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) in Provincetown, Massachusetts, to support four Providence-based writers attending a weeklong summer writing workshop. The inaugural recipients—Justice Ameer, Sean Richardson, Vikki Warner, and Ellen Zahniser—were selected by a panel of local writers and ACT staff. Each scholarship covers tuition, housing, and includes a $500 stipend for travel and food expenses.
FAWC’s summer program offers 36 weeklong creative writing workshops taught by nationally recognized authors, alongside public readings and artist talks. The selected writers represent diverse genres including poetry, creative nonfiction, and performance writing. Justice Ameer is a celebrated poet and political educator; Sean Richardson is known for his authentic personal essays; Vikki Warner is a nonfiction author and editor with a memoir published by The Feminist Press; and Ellen Zahniser is a performing artist and writer with a background in theatre arts. This initiative aims to foster local literary talent by providing access to prestigious creative opportunities.
ACT ha seleccionado a los primeros cuatro escritores de Providence para participar en un taller de escritura en el Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) en Provincetown, Massachusetts, gracias a un nuevo programa de becas lanzado en invierno de 2026. La iniciativa ofrece a los seleccionados la oportunidad de asistir gratuitamente a un taller intensivo de una semana durante el verano, incluyendo matrícula, alojamiento y un estipendio de 500 dólares para gastos de transporte y alimentación. Los beneficiarios son Justice Ameer, Sean Richardson, Vikki Warner y Ellen Zahniser, quienes fueron elegidos por un panel integrado por escritores locales y personal de ACT.
