The Armory Park Farmers Market in Providence is set to reopen for the summer season on June 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. Located at Hollywood Road and Parade Street, the market will feature its first Concert in the Park of the year, focusing on a Caribbean Heritage Celebration. Presented by Farm Fresh RI, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association, and Moniker Brewery, the event will include live music, storytelling, cooking demonstrations, local vendors, and Caribbean cuisine from JA Patty. Meanwhile, the Mile of History Association will hold its annual Spring Event in June on the front lawn of the historic Old State House at 150 Benefit Street, with the exact date to be announced. The Old State House, restored and reopened on May 4, is notable for its colonial history and the 1776 Rhode Island Independence Day declaration. Attendees can expect food, drinks, and historical insights. Additionally, Alexis Gorriarán has been named executive director of the Providence Tourism Council. A longtime cultural leader, Gorriarán has significantly contributed to Providence’s tourism growth through major events like Illuminate PVD and the PVD Holiday Market, enhancing the city’s national profile and community engagement.
