Terms of Use
Last updated: September 30, 2026
These shared Terms apply to eventsinprovidence.com, the Events in Providence app, and Providence Passport, operated by Local Robot®. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
About These Services
Local Robot® operates eventsinprovidence.com and the Events in Providence app for discovering events and related information, and Providence Passport for exploring places, collecting stamps, saving walks, following neighborhood tours, reading place stories and current event details, and optional location leaderboards. These are the “Services.”
Events in Providence is independent of the City of Providence and government agencies. Providence Passport is an independent Local Robot® app, not affiliated with or operated by the Providence Downtown Improvement District (DID). DID permits use of its directory content; that permission is not an endorsement or affiliation.
Passport incorporates public source content from Downtown Providence, Events in Providence, DowntownParks.app, and the West Broadway Neighborhood Association (WBNA). Source credits identify the provider; they do not make that provider the Passport operator. The original publishers retain their content rights.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using the Services, you:
Confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms; and
Agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.
Changes to These Terms
We may update or modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted on this page with the “Last updated” date revised. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
Event Information and Accuracy
The Services aggregate events and information from a variety of sources. We may also display events submitted directly by organizers, businesses, or community members.
While we make reasonable efforts to keep information current and accurate, all event details (including dates, times, locations, pricing, cancellations, and other information) are provided for general informational purposes only and are subject to change without notice.
You are responsible for confirming event details directly with the event organizer or official source before attending.
No Endorsement
Listing an event, organization, venue, or business on the Services does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee by Events in Providence. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the actions, policies, or offerings of any event organizer, venue, or third party.
User Submissions and Event Listings
The Services may allow you to submit events, descriptions, images, links, and other content (“User Submissions”). By submitting content, you agree that:
You have the right and authority to submit the content and to grant the licenses described below;
Your submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge at the time of submission;
Your content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, privacy right, or other third-party right;
Your content does not contain unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate material.
By submitting content, you grant Events in Providence a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, modify (for formatting and clarity), and distribute your content on the Services and in related services or communications.
We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit, refuse, or remove any submission for any reason, including but not limited to inaccuracies, duplication, inappropriate content, or failure to comply with these Terms.
Intellectual Property
Except where otherwise noted, all branding, layout, design, and original written content on the Services are the property of Events in Providence (“Site Content”) and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
All event information, descriptions, images, and media sourced from third parties remain the property of their respective owners or publishers. We display such content for informational purposes only.
You may view, print, or download Site Content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or create derivative works from the Site Content without our prior written permission, except as otherwise permitted by law.
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Services:
For any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
To submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information;
To submit or transmit any content that is defamatory, harassing, abusive, hateful, obscene, or otherwise objectionable;
To attempt to interfere with the proper functioning or security of the Services;
To scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Services (including event listings) without our express written permission;
To impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
App permissions, maps, and real-world access
You choose whether to allow location, camera, notification, or other permissions requested for a feature. User-started navigation can continue in the background and with the screen locked until you end it. Maps, routes, weather, and transit information are informational, can be incomplete or delayed, and do not guarantee safe or accessible passage, entry, opening hours, or a bus arrival. Follow posted access rules, signals, closures, and actual conditions. Do not use the app while doing so would distract you from safe travel.
Passport profiles, stamps, and leaderboards
Passport can be used as a guest. Email-code sign-in enables account recovery and synchronization; protect your sign-in codes and device credentials. Passport profiles are separate from WordPress dashboard accounts. Guest use and account deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.
Check-ins require your confirmation and online validation. Eligible places award at most one stamp per local calendar day in America/New_York. Signed venue QR codes and eligible location check-ins count equally. Do not falsify location, manipulate codes, automate check-ins, or misuse another person’s profile. Stamps and leaderboard positions have no cash value and do not promise a prize, discount, or right of admission.
Public location leaderboards are off by default. Opting in includes eligible prior stamps; opting out removes public participation without erasing personal progress. You can use the generated Explorer alias or an optional custom name. Names must not impersonate, harass, threaten, contain blocked profanity, or violate others’ rights. Administrators may review reports, reset a name, restrict renaming, suspend public leaderboard participation, or reverse restrictions. Reports alone do not automatically punish a participant; moderating a name preserves stamps. Use the support form if you believe a moderation decision is incorrect.
App links and stickers
Passport event pages can link directly to an original publisher, with an occurrence-specific Events in Providence link as a fallback or separate action. An Events in Providence link opens that app when supported and available, otherwise the browser. Tours, banners, audio, videos, interactive links, and source pages can use external providers and their terms. Tour stops and event or banner markers do not create stamp eligibility. Bundled Clam and Passport stickers may be sent through your chosen messaging or sharing app for personal use; this does not transfer ownership of the characters or artwork.
Third-Party Websites and Links
The Services contain links to external websites and resources operated by third parties. These links are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for:
The content, policies, or practices of any third-party websites; or
Any products, services, or events offered by third parties.
Accessing third-party websites is at your own risk. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services and all information, content, and services provided through them are offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Events in Providence disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
The Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
Any defects or errors will be corrected;
The information on the Services is complete, accurate, or current at all times.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Events in Providence, its owner(s), operators, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to:
Your access to or use of the Services;
Your reliance on any event information or other content on the Services;
Any event you attend or participate in that was listed or referenced on the Services;
Any errors or omissions in the content of the Services.
If, despite the above, we are found liable to you for any damage or loss arising from or relating to the Services, our liability shall in no event exceed fifty U.S. dollars (USD $50).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Events in Providence, its owner(s), operators, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:
Your use of the Services;
Your User Submissions or content you provide;
Your violation of these Terms; or
Your violation of any rights of a third party.
Privacy
Information is handled as described in the shared Events in Providence Privacy Policy, including its separate sections for the Events in Providence app and Providence Passport. Optional permissions and public leaderboard participation are controlled as described there.
Children’s Use
The Services are intended for general audiences. However, if you are under the age of 13, you should use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 13 years old or have parental/guardian consent to do so.
Suspension or Termination
We reserve the right, at our discretion and without prior notice, to suspend or terminate your access to the Services or remove any content if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in inappropriate or unlawful behavior.
Governing Law
These Terms and your use of the Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Rhode Island, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Rhode Island, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Events in Providence regarding your use of the Services and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings, agreements, or representations.
