Conferencia Pell 2026 Sobre Artes Y Humanidades: El Artista Y La Revolución
The 2026 Pell Lecture on Arts & Humanities, titled “The Artist and the Revolution,” will take place on April 22, 2026, at The Pavilion at Grace in Providence, Rhode Island. This free public event, running from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, aims to inspire participation in changemaking through art and poetics. The keynote speaker is Camonghne Felix, a National Book Award longlisted poet, writer, and former political strategist, who will discuss how poetry and politics intersect as tools for resistance, strategy, and survival. The event also features poetry performances by Sussy Santana and Justice Ameer, drumming by Yoruba 2, and remarks from Providence Mayor Brett P. Smiley. Community voices include City of Providence Chief of Staff Emily Ward Crowell, youth leaders from the Providence Student Union, and Langston Hughes Community Poetry Reading co-director Kai Cameron. Supported by the Rhode Island Semiquincentennial Commission and local partners Symposium Books and Suya Joint, the event encourages diverse attendees—from artists to government leaders—to engage in dialogue on social change. Registration is required, and refreshments will be served.
La conferencia anual Pell Lecture on the Arts & Humanities 2026, titulada “The Artist and the Revolution”, se llevará a cabo el 22 de abril en The Pavilion at Grace, Providence, Rhode Island. El evento, gratuito y abierto al público, contará con la participación de la poeta y escritora Camonghne Felix, autora de Let The Poets Govern: A Declaration of Freedom (2026) y exestratega política, quien ofrecerá una conferencia magistral sobre cómo la poética y la política pueden ser herramientas de resistencia, estrategia y supervivencia. Además, habrá un diálogo con April Brown, codirectora de Langston Hughes Community Poetry Reading, y presentaciones poéticas de Sussy Santana y Justice Ameer, así como música de Yoruba 2.
El alcalde Brett P.
