WaterFire Providence has announced the fifth cohort of its WaterFire Accelerate program for 2026, a year-long professional development initiative aimed at supporting emerging artists under 30 in Rhode Island. Backed by the U.S. Department of Labor, the program offers mentorship, professional training, and opportunities to help young artists build sustainable creative careers while remaining in the state. This year’s cohort includes six diverse artists—Aja Delgado, Pamela Fernández, Liam Fifer, Yasmine Hassan, Amelia Rozear, and Rachel Turner—working across various mediums such as printmaking, mixed media, illustration, and film photography. The artists will participate in monthly meetings, events, and site visits, culminating in a group exhibition at the WaterFire Arts Center in Fall 2026. Selection was made by a committee of regional arts professionals, WaterFire staff, and program alumni. The program continues to grow in popularity, addressing the needs of early-career artists seeking long-term creative and professional development opportunities within Rhode Island. Each cohort member brings a unique perspective, reflecting themes from cultural identity to emotional vulnerability and personal experience.
WaterFire Providence ha anunciado la quinta cohorte del programa WaterFire Accelerate 2026, una iniciativa de desarrollo profesional dirigida a artistas menores de 30 años que residen en Rhode Island. Este programa, respaldado por el Departamento de Trabajo de Estados Unidos, ofrece mentoría, capacitación profesional y oportunidades prácticas para fortalecer tanto la práctica artística como las habilidades empresariales de los participantes. La cohorte 2026 está integrada por seis jóvenes artistas destacados: Aja Delgado, Pamela Fernández, Liam Fifer, Yasmine Hassan, Amelia Rozear y Rachel Turner, cuyas obras abarcan desde la ilustración y la fotografía hasta medios mixtos y grabado. A lo largo de un año, los artistas participarán en reuniones mensuales, eventos y visitas a sitios, culminando con una exposición colectiva en la galería WaterFire Arts Center en otoño de 2026. La selección fue realizada por un comité conformado por profesionales del arte regional, miembros del equipo de WaterFire y exalumnos del programa. WaterFire Accelerate responde a la necesidad creciente de apoyar a artistas emergentes para que puedan desarrollar carreras creativas sostenibles y establecer redes profesionales dentro de Rhode Island.
