Providence’s Anyhow Studio, founded by Liz Welch, is a ceramics workspace focused on fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for early-career artists and beginners, especially those from marginalized communities. Each June, Anyhow Studio celebrates LGBTQIA+ Pride with a distinctive “Gay for Clay” parade float, featuring a DIY pottery kiln mounted on a platform in the bed of Welch’s pickup truck. This float highlights the studio’s commitment to community and creativity. Welch highlights the communal nature of working with clay, noting that collaboration enhances the artistic process. Anyhow Studio’s participation in New England’s largest PrideFest and Illuminated Night Parade on June 20 underscores its role as a vibrant community resource supporting diversity and artistic growth.
