Disney Musicals in Schools Puts Students in the Spotlight on the PPAC Stage
Disney Musicals In Schools Pone A Estudiantes En El Centro Del Escenario Del Ppac
On June 10, 2026, over 140 elementary and middle school students from Rhode Island towns including Coventry, Cranston, Pawtucket, and Providence will perform on the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) stage, thanks to a Disney grant supporting the Disney Musicals in Schools program. This initiative, offered at no cost, enables public schools in multiple Rhode Island communities to develop sustainable theater programs. Participating schools engaged in 17- to 22-week residencies led by PPAC and Disney-trained teaching artists, producing Disney KIDS and Disney JR. musicals such as Aladdin KIDS, The Lion King KIDS, Finding Nemo KIDS, Alice in Wonderland JR., and Aladdin JR. The program also provides performance rights, educational materials, and professional development for teachers to direct and choreograph productions. The June 10 Student Share Celebration will showcase selections from these musicals, highlighting students’ and teachers’ dedication. Launched in 2010 to expand arts access in under-resourced schools, Disney Musicals in Schools partners with organizations nationwide, adapting popular Disney films into age-appropriate stage productions. PPAC, a major venue in Providence’s arts district, continues to support arts education and Broadway tours.
