The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has announced the winners of the 2025/2026 Ocean State Star Awards (OSSA), celebrating excellence in high school musical theatre across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. The awards recognize students and educators in 18 performance and technical categories, with 22 high schools and 29 musicals participating this season. Six productions earned the Outstanding Musical honor, including Bishop Hendricken High School’s “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” Joseph Case High School’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” South Kingstown High School’s “The Prom,” St. Mary Academy – Bay View’s “Shrek the Musical,” and West Warwick High School’s “Anastasia” and “The Theory of Relativity.”
Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress awards were given to 15 males and 20 females, respectively, alongside various performance and technical awards. The winners will be celebrated during a live Showcase at PPAC on May 3, 2026, featuring musical numbers from five of the Outstanding Musicals. The event will conclude with the announcement of lead performers who will represent Rhode Island at the national Jimmy Awards® in New York City, a prestigious platform for emerging Broadway talent. El Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) anunció a los ganadores de los Ocean State Star Awards (OSSA) 2025/2026, que reconocen el talento de estudiantes y educadores en teatro musical de secundaria en Rhode Island y el sureste de Massachusetts. La ceremonia de premiación y exhibición en vivo se realizará el domingo 3 de mayo de 2026 a las 18:30 horas en el escenario del PPAC. En esta edición participaron 22 escuelas y 29 producciones, evaluadas en 18 categorías tanto de actuación como técnicas por un jurado de expertos.
Seis musicales recibieron el máximo galardón de Mejor Musical: “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” (Bishop Hendricken High School), “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (Joseph Case High School), “The Prom” (South Kingstown High School), “Shrek The Musical” (St. Mary Academy – Bay View), “Anastasia” y “The Theory of Relativity” (ambos de West Warwick High School). Además, se premiaron a 20 actrices y 15 actores principales destacados, así como a elencos, directores, diseñadores y otros roles técnicos.
